At our cafe you can start your mornings with freshly baked pastries and specialty coffee drinks. As lunch rolls around we have beer selections to pair with your meal. We also offer bread loaves and baguettes to enjoy at home.

Juan Carlos Escobar, Head Baker
Originally from Guatemala City, Juan Carlos began his baking journey in San Diego in the early '80s. He spent two decades refining his craft at Parisian Bakery before joining O’Brien’s Boulangerie under founder Jim O’Brien. In 2006, with his brother Edgar as the new owner, Juan Carlos became Head Baker — bringing decades of expertise and passion to every loaf.
Eddie Escobar, Master Pastry Chef
Inspired by his family’s bakery roots, Eddie discovered his passion for pastry at 24 and trained tirelessly to master the craft. His creativity and skill have transformed O’Brien’s dessert offerings, with his signature pastries now a daily staple in the café.
Carlos Vargas, Culinary Director
We’re excited to welcome Chef Carlos Vargas to O’Brien’s Boulangerie! With a fine dining background and a passion for elevating simple ingredients, Chef Vargas will introduce seasonal menus, a new fall tapas service, and elevated pastries and savory dishes. From your morning croissant to an evening out, get ready to taste what’s next.
